Wednesday Evening
Activities
“They were
continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to
fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” (Acts
2:42)
Our regular
mid-week gathering is centered on prayer and fellowship in the
Lord Jesus Christ. There are opportunities for every member of the
family to grow and experience the Lord in different ways. We feel
there is just too much time between Sundays to avoid meeting
mid-week, so Wednesday evening is our refreshment in the Lord and
each other between Sundays. Regular, frequent group prayer and
fellowship is a vital part of strengthening one another and being
able to walk closely with Christ during the rest of our week.
Activities at Grace are not just planned in order to be
entertained, but are designed to strengthen one another for
service as we leave the church.
Listed below are
several of the activities you would find when attending a
Wednesday evening gathering:
Wednesday Evening Prayer
Meeting
This is our general
weekly prayer meeting. Concerns and praises for the church and
personal concerns are lifted to the Lord. Simultaneous to this
meeting the infants, children and youth of the church are involved
in activities which include personal prayer, fellowship and,
outings of various types.
Wednesday Night Youth
Group
Youth in Middle
School and High School (and beyond) meet on Wednesday nights each
week for prayer, fellowship, community service projects,
evangelistic outreach, Bible studies and other recreation.
Activities are personally supervised and developed by Pastor Harry
Simmons. Christian character development is a part of every
activity.
Wednesday Night
Children’s Clubs
Children in the
elementary grades have their own set of activities to encourage
growth and further their knowledge of the scriptures. Boys and
girls are taught separately as their needs and concerns differ.
Occasionally, for special presentations, groups are combined.
Girls in grades 1 - 6 form a group called Serving My Master (S.M.M.).
Activities range from storytelling to outdoor adventures to
special film presentations.
Boys in the 1st -
6th grades participate in a group named One-On-One. They learn
Christian principles through completing worksheets with a “coach”
and through games and outdoor activities, when appropriate.
